Soil and Pasture Health Workshops – understanding soil testing


· Learn how soil fertility influences other factors of soil health
· Learn more about your soils and how soil fertility can influence your soil health, production and profitability
· Understand how to take a simple soil test and sampling for laboratory analysis
· Find out about what the numbers mean on your soil test
· Discuss the impacts soil health on pasture and landscape health

Two separate days - 6 weeks apart
Day 1 Soil health, simple soil tests, information on how to take a soil sample for a laboratory test, and the soil sampling gear (lent) to participants to take home. Each property/participant will have access to one free soil sample. You will also need to bring a soil sample from your property for the day (enough soil to fill an ice cream container).

Day 2 You will need to attend to receive your soil test. The day covers soil testing information from your soil test results, what do the numbers mean, what are some of the soil benchmarks for sustainability and  production targets.

Time: Day 1, 10.30am (sharp) - 3.00pm
When and Where: Day 1 Friday 17th October Lithgow/Hartley area
Day 1 Wednesday 29th October Hampton area
Day 1 Tuesday 11th November Capertee Valley

Cost: Free but you must RSVP

RSVP (there are limited spaces for this workshop) 2 days prior to the workshop for further details and directions.

Morning tea and lunch will be provided but bring your own mug/cup. Bring a chair to sit on, your hat, sturdy shoes (we will be outside for part of the workshop), water and pen.
