Capertee Valley Saffron has proved once more that they are moving in the right direction, walking away from the Royal Hobart Fine Food Awards with gold, silver and bronze medals.
Katrin Dixon from Capertee Valley Saffron said she was very happy with the results that saw her return home with a gold, two silvers, and a bronze.
“We only entered the four products so we’re very happy with what we’ve managed to achieve,” she said.
“It’s a great way to know that you’re doing the right thing and going in the right direction.”
Mrs Dixon said Capertee Valley Saffron had won gold and champion medals at food awards before, but several of the products entered in Hobart had gone on show for the first time.
“We’ve been entering the Hobart Fine Food Awards for several years now with the fig and cardamom paste, the saffron threads, and the vinegars, but this is the first time we’ve entered with the saffron dukkah,” Mrs Dixon said.
Mrs Dixon said each of the products she had entered this year were best sellers at the Farmers markets, and a step up from where the business first started.
“We focused on the vinegar, syrup, marmalades, and saffron thread in the first year but have been growing and growing the number of products since then,” she said.
“We’re really happy that we’ve been recognised for all our hard work.”
Capertee Valley Saffron was awarded gold for their fig and cardamom paste, silver for their saffron dukkah and saffron desert syrup, and bronze for their sweet and salty nuts at the 2015 awards.
“The syrup has won bronze in Hobart before,” Mrs Dixon said.
“The awards are a great chance to be able to tweak a product and try and improve on what you’ve been making before,” she said.
