Lithgow City Council confirms that Greater Lithgow Tourism and Membership is actually decreasing?

No matter how much recent media spin our Mayor Maree Statham put’s on it, there is substantial disquiet and financial concern from many local tourism and business operators over the continuing decline in visitors numbers across the Greater Lithgow region.

Tourism operator’s report that the decline of visitors to the area all went shaped three years ago when Lithgow Tourism put out their own appalling ‘A break in Lithgow will bring you together’ television commercial.

Additionally, despite Tourism operators raising serious concerns about Lithgow City Council spending a major part of their $850,000 Tourism funding budget to win awards within the BMLOT group in the Blue Mountains, the BMLOT finally closed it’s doors late last year owing debts.

The latest and attached Lithgow City Council Annual Report for 2014/2015 is now confirming that: -

There was a decrease in the number of visitors to the Lithgow City Council’s Visitor Information Centre in Lithgow compared to the previous 2013/2014 year.

The Membership of the Lithgow City Council’s Visitor Information Centre fell from 71 members to 57 members, a decrease of 20% compared to the previous 2013/2014 year.

The total value of Accommodation Bookings made at the Lithgow City Council’s Visitor Information Centre decreased by more than 50% compared to the previous 2013/2014 year.

The total value of Souvenir SALES was just under $65,000 for the whole financial year - with strangely, NO PUBLIC DISCLOSURE OF THE ACTUAL TOTAL PROFIT TO LITHGOW RATEPAYERS?

The total value of Tour Bookings was just $121.60; the Commission on Accommodation Bookings was just $319.50 and the Commission on Tour Bookings was just $18.24.

Many Lithgow Main Street Business Operators are still bottling up much disquiet and mistrust with the Mayor, Maree Statham and her Lithgow City Council, after they incurred financial losses following the misleading and grossly over inflated visitor numbers that never eventuated at last year’s $100,000 plus Council Halloween 2015 Event?

PLEASE EXPLAIN MAYOR MAREE?
