Mayor Stephen Lesslie
Councillor Stephen Lesslie has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Sydney and worked
as a Senior Hospital Scientist in the Biochemistry Department at both Concord Repatriation & General Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
Stephen has a long history of involvement and experience in local government. He served on
Drummoyne Council for sixteen years, two of those as its mayor.
He grew up in Lithgow attending both Lithgow Public School and Lithgow High School.
He has recently retired from his latest job as a Sydney bus driver to move back to his family home
in Lithgow. He was recently elected President of the Lithgow Workmen’s Men’s Bowling Club.
Stephen is President of Electoral Reform Australia and is an advocate for the use of proportional representation in the election of all representative bodies. He regularly makes submissions to Parliamentary enquiries which are regularly ignored.
In his spare time, when he has time, he looks after his bees.
Stephen is keen to see Council develop sustainable long term plans for the future growth of Lithgow
and jobs for its increasing population which will last well beyond coal.
